about

Headphones highly recommended.

DJENNÉ DJENNO is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the country of Mali and is considered to be among the oldest urbanized centers and best-known archaeology site in West Africa. Initially I drew inspiration from the beautiful phrase "Djenné Djenno" :: which led to the idea of combining culturally ancient tuning modes with extensively processed Textural Guitars. The recording is a suite of fifteen interlaced Textural Guitarchitecture compositions developed through a process of recombinant layering - often reducing compositions to absolute minimal core essentials.

Additional Technical Notes - Guitarchitecture recording chains:

'61 Strat / '64 ES 335 > '62 Fender Deluxe Amp (Brown) w/ Amperex Bugle Boy 12AX7- RCA 6V6GT Black Plate > Celestion Gold 12 > AKG C414B & Sennheiser MD441-U > Millennia HV3 mic pre > Eventide H9000 > Apogee Symphony 24 bit 96k > Avid PT.

1968 Guild D40 acoustic > Neumann U87 & AKG C414B > Millennia HV3 mic pre > Eventide H9000 > Apogee Symphony 24 bit 96k > Avid PT.

1978 Analog GR 500 Guitar Synth (courtesy Lou Reed) > 1979 Roland JC120 Amp > AKG C414B & Sennheiser MD441-U > Millennia HV3 mic pre > Eventide H9000 > Apogee Symphony 24 bit 96k > Avid PT.

No additional pedals or processors were used during recording.
